Research works submitted for the Medis Awards are independently reviewed and evaluated by an international panel of renowned specialists. Each panel member is selected based on their extensive expertise and experience in their respective field.
Prof. Matija Tomšič, MD, PhD is the head of the Department of Rheumatology, University Medical Centre Ljubljana and Professor of Internal Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He has published over 90 original papers in SCI-listed journals and, along with Žiga Rotar MD, designed the computer program BioRx.si, which is the national interactive registry of patients treated with biological drugs. He was also instrumental in the development of the RheumaHelper application, which is being used in 110 countries worldwide.
Matija Tomšič is also the editor and author of the textbook "Interna medicina" and several other books.
Prof. Nándor Ács graduated from Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest, Hungary in 1992. He is an OB/GYN specialist with board experience in obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery and clinical pharmacology. He is full professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Semmelweis University, as well as Medical Director at the Femmed Institute for aesthetic gynecology in Budapest. He specializes in menopausal medicine and pelvic organ prolapse surgery.
He holds a PhD and an MBA in health economics. He has published more than 300 papers with around 1000 citations. He is a member of several eminent medical societies and organizations.
Assoc. Prof. Karanović is head of the Clinical Department of Anesthesia & Intensive Medicine, with specialties in anesthesiology and reanimatology, emergency medicine and subspecialty in intensive medicine. His main fields of work are cardiac anesthesia and intensive care, disaster medicine and sleeping disorders. He is internationally invited lecturer and researcher in various domestic and international projects. He is member of international societies of anesthesia and intensive medicine, representative of Croatia in ESA NASC committee and EACTA. He published 129 professional and scientific publications.
Prof. Kerbl s research fields are pediatric hematology/oncology, sleep medicine, preventive pediatrics, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and others. Research work resulted in over 100 original papers published in SCI listed journals.
He is Chairman of the Austrian working group for postgraduate training in Pediatrics. From 2012-2014 he was President of the Austrian Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
He is editor and author of a textbook of Pediatrics, editor and author of several other books, and editor of two pediatric journals.
Prof. Nestorović is a professor of pediatrics at the Medical faculty in Belgrade, Head of Allergy and Pulmonology Department in University Children’s Hospital, has PhD in Allergology and subspecialty in Pulmonology. Currently, he is a president of the Serbian Allergy and Clinical Immunology Society.
His main interest is asthma, with emphasis on severe non-eosinophilic asthma and personalized asthma treatments. Second filed of interest is chronic lung diseases, bronchiectasis in particular. He introduced a method of induced sputum into clinical practice in Serbia, in children and adults He is author of many books for medical profession – among most cited Pediatric Allergy, Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatric asthma. He is a member of Serbian Medical Academy and has the highest awards from Serbian Medicam Association.
Prof. Stanković is a full time university professor, specialist of sanitary chemistry. His main fields of expertise are food safety, food supplements and food for particular nutritional uses. He is an expert of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), a member of the joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on food additives (JECFA) and national counterpart to WHO for food safety.
He is also a president or member of scientific committees of number of international and national scientific meetings. He has published more than 300 publications in international and national journals, books, monographs and abstract books and done research in several scientific projects.
Emilija Cvetkovska, MD, Phd is associate Professor of Neurology at Medical Faculty in Skopje, University 'St. Cyril and Methodius" and Head of the Epilepsy Department at Clinic of Neurology in Skopje. She is president of Macedonian League against Epilepsy. In 2013 she established first Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in Republic Macedonia and in 2010 she completed first clinical genetic study of idiopathic epilepsies in Republic Macedonia. She participates in local, national and international meetings with lectures or abstracts and has published many articles in journals. She is editor in chief of Epilepsy and Neurology, official journal of Macedonian League against Epilepsy.
